Bespoke Daikin Air Conditioning System at Brooks's Club, London

When was the work carried out?

Fitting best as always to the schedules of our clients, the Royale team’s works were carried out during the club’s annual shutdown period in August. This rare opportunity meant zero disruption to club activities – a real benefit for the client and the Royale team who are used to working around the core hours of active offices and busy retail stores.

What type of system was installed?

With much of Brooks’s clubhouse under renovation, Royale engineers installed two brand-new Daikin VRV air-conditioning systems. Integrated across several rooms, these industry-leading systems are energy efficient and replete with smart management controls.

What requirements did the client have?

Built in a classical Palladian style, the unique aesthetic of Brooks’s clubhouse was marred a little by an older, unsightly air-conditioning system long overdue a replacement. The new VRV system, combined with a change from fan coils to concealed ducted systems, gave the area full AC functionality without any visual obtrusion.

What did Royale do?

As is often the case, Royale’s work was split into two phases: The removal of the older Hitachi AC system and its replacement with the newer Daikin VRV solution.

Were there any challenges?

Despite falling within a regular maintenance period, time was still tight. The Royale team had to ensure all areas were fully operational for full re-opening to particularly discerning club members. This together with the need to conceal the new system without impacting functionality was a real challenge we’re proud to say our team met to the letter.

What were the results?

The difference between an older and newer AC system is significant. Installed properly, the new Daikin system is easier to maintain, more energy and cost-efficient - and almost entirely concealed to club visitors and members. It’s easier to adjust, activate and deactivate, too.

What did the client say?

We’re proud to say that Royale’s client contact at Brooks, Ian, was complimentary of our work. Harry, one of the members of the Royale team involved, was praised in particular – well done Harry!
