When was the work carried out?

Fitting best as always to the schedules of our clients, the Royale team’s works were carried out during the club’s annual shutdown period in August. This rare opportunity meant zero disruption to club activities – a real benefit for the client and the Royale team who are used to working around the core hours of active offices and busy retail stores.

What type of system was installed?

With much of Brooks’s clubhouse under renovation, Royale engineers installed two brand-new Daikin VRV air-conditioning systems. Integrated across several rooms, these industry-leading systems are energy efficient and replete with smart management controls.

What requirements did the client have?

Built in a classical Palladian style, the unique aesthetic of Brooks’s clubhouse was marred a little by an older, unsightly air-conditioning system long overdue a replacement. The new VRV system, combined with a change from fan coils to concealed ducted systems, gave the area full AC functionality without any visual obtrusion.

What did Royale do?

As is often the case, Royale’s work was split into two phases: The removal of the older Hitachi AC system and its replacement with the newer Daikin VRV solution.

Were there any challenges?

Despite falling within a regular maintenance period, time was still tight. The Royale team had to ensure all areas were fully operational for full re-opening to particularly discerning club members. This together with the need to conceal the new system without impacting functionality was a real challenge we’re proud to say our team met to the letter.

What were the results?

The difference between an older and newer AC system is significant. Installed properly, the new Daikin system is easier to maintain, more energy and cost-efficient - and almost entirely concealed to club visitors and members. It’s easier to adjust, activate and deactivate, too.

Was did the client say?

We’re proud to say that Royale’s client contact at Brooks, Ian, was complimentary of our work. Harry, one of the members of the Royale team involved, was praised in particular – well done Harry!

When was the work carried out?

Our work for Cobbs Farm began in November 2018 and finished in March 2019. Tight deadlines and the need for a new fully customised system made every month interesting and engaging for our engineers.

What type of system was installed?

Cobbs came to us for a complete fit-out of their brand-new farm shop. The requirement included air conditioning systems, a general-purpose refrigeration and freezer room and a dry ageing room. Remote display refrigeration cabinets were also installed in customer facing areas of the farm shop.

What requirements did the client have?

Display chillers, air conditioning and cold storage formed a large part of Cobb’s requirements. As a retail store, it was vitally important the newly installed equipment was reliable, visually sleek and did not intrude into customer facing areas of the shop.

What did Royale do?

First off, an energy efficient air conditioning system was installed using custom pipework to connect to an external condensing that provides much better energy efficiency throughout the summer months. Display chillers were carefully installed into the shop area to allow Cobb’s to display products in a visually pleasing way. A tailor-made dry-aged beef room was built with a window that allows customers to see the products inside. A general-purpose refrigeration and freezer room was also built.

Pipework and cabling for all the equipment was hidden away where possible so as not to interfere with the sleek visual appearance of the farm shop’s customer facing areas.

Were there any challenges?

Pipework is often challenging, especially when so many different types of equipment are required within one retail space. This, together with tight deadlines, made this job slightly more challenging but our engineers completed it on time and to spec without any problems.

What were the results?

Simply put, a reliable and energy efficient system was installed that provides consistent temperature control and a positive the retail experience for customers. Great stuff.

When was the work carried out?

The Royale team finished this challenging project in May 2019. Involving renovation of a space over 3,000 square metres in size, it was an extensive project we’re proud to have worked on.

What type of system was installed?

A large building like Longacres requires a top-end system. In this case, Royale supplied and installed a BlueBox smart heating and cooling solution; a system from an excellent brand known for efficient and consistent temperature control.

What requirements did Longacres have?

Longacres has challenging storage requirements due to the sheer size of its stockholding and the requirement for such precise temperate control. The company’s diverse array of plants and organic produce has varying requirements for temperature and moisture for it to stay healthy and ready for sale. Our solution had to cater to every requirement in different areas of the Longacres building; quite the task.

What did Royale do?

The existing underfloor heating was integrated into the new BlueBox heater to keep the building warm in winter months, thus ensuring consistent temperate for the plants and produce inside the building. This, in addition to chilling fan coils designed to stop flowers from wilting and maintain temperatures across the shop floor area, was the main body of the project’s work.

Were there any challenges?

As is the case with any large retail area, Longacres had a demanding footprint to work around. Varying requirements of twenty-four-hour temperature control was a tough one! Flushing the pipework to clean the bacteria that accumulated from the previous system was also a technical task that had to be done before installing the new system.

What were the results?

A well-executed project in a retail space is hard but always rewarding. Longacres now has excellent temperature control throughout its 3,000+ square metre area – and thanks to the planning efforts of Royale’s engineers, the new system is visually unobtrusive, affordable and easier to maintain.
